Three picks | non-fiction February

I’ve decided to begin doing a series where I pick three books of the same genre or theme I have on my shelves to read, and speak about each of them.

These might be a mixture of read books in the form of a mini wrap-up, or could be more of a to be read format.

For my first three picks, I thought I would start with three books that I’ve very recently picked up, with the first genre covering non-fiction.

Reading wrap up | January 2019

Hello! It is already February (HOW) and that means it’s time for me to wrap up all the books that I’ve read in the past month. Even if it is now the middle of the month and I’m a little late.

I set my target at 52 for the year which means I should be reading at least one book a week, or four a month, which I was a little bit worried about as I tend to go through phases of reading loads or reading nothing.

However, pleased to say that I smashed that four books goal this month. Despite how sad the above picture looks, in January, I read a total of eight books. Woohoo!

Friends recommend books to me

I”ve been inspired by a range of Youtube videos this past few months, both “…. picks my TBR” and trying a chapter of a couple of different books that have been recommended to you by friends.

I was originally going to do a read a chapter post but after I accidentally listened to over a quarter of the audiobook of Stoner, I thought I may as well just incorporate it into a TBR.

So without further ado, here’s my reading plans for the next while! I’ll post an update once I’ve finished reading them all. Pray to the motivation gods that I manage to do that before the year ends and I forget.

Blind date with a book and mini haul

Hi friends, it’s been a little while since I posted consistently, which I feel like I end up writing every time I go to compose a new post. Even though I’ve only just put up another post, you have no idea how long this has been sitting in my draft folder for! But I’m determined to be better! I’m currently working on a travel series which I HOPE will be super cool and interesting to read!

I recently picked up something called “blind date with a book” which is based on the premise that you should pick up a novel based on the plot, and not what the cover looks like. I won’t lie, I am notoriously bad for picking stuff up based on what it looks like so I thought I would test myself.

A Day At The Prison

As a person who inexplicably has a law degree, the concept of prison is pretty familiar to me. I’ve written extensively about crimes, but i’ve never actually set foot inside a prison, and my knowledge of prisons is down to Louis Theroux documentaries and Orange Is The New Black.

Recently a prison about a 45 minute drive from my house opened up as a museum, so since I had a day off, I went to have a look around.
