September reading plan

Happy September! I can’t quite believe that it’s gotten to this point of year already, but here we are. I’ve got quite an ambitious plan of reading at least seven books this month, but I’m on holiday at the end of the month so I’m hoping that I can up that a little bit and maybe even finish my reading challenge!

I’ve really picked a lot of different things this month that are totally different to what I normally go for, so hopefully it all goes well.

IT by Stephen King: What Emma Listened To

I’ve never been one for audiobooks. I embraced e-readers, but I guess I’m old fashioned in that I love having a physical book in my hands and the act of sitting down with a cup of tea and spending a few hours losing myself in a book. So what you’re about to read is half my review of Stephen King’s It, half a review of my first audiobook experience.

I really wanted to read It before the new film is released in the cinema, as I’m a massive lover of all things horror related, but at over 1,100 pages- the book is quite a big commitment and I have very little spare time since I work full time and have been spending the weekends working on my final coursework for my degree. Stephen King is also my favourite author, so what better way to dip my toe in than listen to one of his books? Spoiler alert though- I gave up and went to see the new film before I finished the book. I have seen the original two part series though, so I guess it’s not too much of a let down that I’ve seen the film before reading the book.

So I thought the best way to try and get through it as quickly as possible would be to give an audiobook a go… for the first time ever.

A recent book haul

I’ve been on an absolute book buying spree this month. I actually had to cut back on how many books I included because this is actually only a small amount of the ones i’ve bought… oops.

Many of them I don’t actually know what they’re really about, as I prefer to go into novels blind, but I’ve tried to speak about the synopses the best I can at this stage!

My Favourite Books

I’ve written about my favourite music quite extensively now, but I’ve never really mentioned any of my favourite books, only books i’ve read and reviewed as part of my book challenges.

I was recently inspired by a post on Goodreads which showed some popular authors’ top 10 favourite books, which really got me thinking about my own favourites- what would I even include? So I figured it was about time that I write about some of them, because I really do love books.

So in no particular order, here are some of my favourites:
